Introduction
The Site Planner is a worksheet that can help you in the early stages of developing your site for Fidelity's corporate Intranet. It consists of questions covering all aspects of site planning and development, from determining your business objectives and target audience, to issues such as preliminary scheduling and budgeting, content and design creation, programming, security and legal issues, and post-launch management.
You can either write in your answers and return the completed Planner to us, or use the Planner to think through some of the issues we'll be discussing with you during our first fact-finding meeting.
What Are the Site's Business Objectives?
What do you hope to achieve with the site? Examples: improve communication or coordination; reduce information delivery time; provide new functionality or services for customers; reduce internal printing costs; provide users with information to get job done. Please list your objectives in order of priority.
What is the Target Audience for the Site?
Who do you want to attract to the site? If the site will have more than one target audience, which one will have the most influence on your success in achieving your business objectives? Describe the most important characteristics (age, location, work role, interests, etc.) of your audience. What are the technical capabilities of your target audience (modem speed or connection, dominant browser, screen resolution, etc.?
How Will the Site Address the Needs of its Audience?
What types of content and applications will be especially useful to your audience? How do you anticipate presenting your information to make the site attractive to your target audience? What "look and feel" will be most effective?
